Not sure which one you use? Try both — only one will recognize your email.

How to Reset Your Medicare Password

Step 1: Go to Medicare.gov

Visit Medicare.gov and click the 'Sign In' button in the top right corner.

Step 2: Select Your Sign-In Method

Choose Login.gov or ID.me — whichever you used when creating your account.

Step 3: Click Forgot Password

Look for the 'Forgot Password?' link below the password field and click it.

Step 4: Enter Your Email

Enter the email address associated with your Medicare account.

Step 5: Check Your Email

Open your email and look for a password reset message. Check spam/junk if you don't see it.

Step 6: Create New Password

Click the reset link in the email and create a new strong password (8+ characters, mix of letters, numbers, symbols).

🔒 Creating a Strong Password

  • • Use at least 8 characters
  • • Include uppercase and lowercase letters
  • • Add at least one number
  • • Include a special character (!@#$%)
  • • Avoid personal information (birthdate, name)
  • • Don't reuse passwords from other sites

💡 Tip: Write your new password down and keep it in a safe place.

Reset Not Working?

If you're having trouble resetting your password:

  • Check spam/junk folder — reset emails sometimes land there
  • Wait 5-10 minutes — emails can be delayed
  • Try the other sign-in method — you may have used Login.gov instead of ID.me
  • Clear browser cookies — then try again
